On the occasion of Gilberto Zorio’s birthday, Piece Unique is very pleased to display Monotype (1990), an edition of Gilberto Zorio produced by Noire Edition.
The artist, known above all for his sculputres of five-sided stars, is one of the leading exponent of Italian Arte Povera movement. His works are mede of commonplace material, such as light tube, lead, steel, salt and terracotta, which is processed through the use of evaporation and oxidation.
His painting and sculptures show his interest in alchemy and natural changes and are metaphors for revolutionary human action, transformation and creativity. He is used to referring to his works as “works in progress” or “works for the future”, because “they are meant to be energy themselves”.
