Penone’s 33 are the result of a frottage action. They are casts of real herbs upon which the artist’s hand has acted, and they tell, in each panel, a profound reflection on the man-nature relationship: the impression of the herbs genuinely converses with the word that transforms into reflection, outlined on the plant structure.
